Dark colours can cause natural resins or sap in wood to migrate or be drawn out which can cause paint to peel. In the extreme, blacks and dark browns can cause cracking and or cupping when the wood is in direct exposure to the summer sun. And of course, dark colour make wood very hot so don't go the dark side for decking.
