If your brushes are rigid with dry paint, boil them in vinegar. Hot, rolling vinegar will disperse paint and revitalise the bristles. Fill an old, deep saucepan, rest the brush bristles down, and boil for a few minutes. Once the vinegar cools and you wash your brush, the chips will just fall right off. Repeat as necessary.
