For Herman van Bon the capturing of a landscape is just the beginning. Just like in nature, there are seasons, and the landscape or subject can change...especially when used as a canvas for exploration and experimentation.

Herman uses different styles of photo-processing and developing software to manipulate his work as well as unique techniques that allow his creations to grow organically. Layer by layer, the original shot metamorphosizes into something truly extraordinary. Textures, tones, figures, symbols and quirky composites create illusions that could very well be figments of the imagination.

Herman’s process is a journey and can take weeks, but the result is a contemporary, deeply personal interpretation and a fascinating fantasia of different forms that are far away from ‘just a landscape’. Occasionally Herman uses a technique called ‘fluidization’ on his photos and sometimes, more often than not, it all comes together.
