Good News for Library Users

All Overstrand libraries will be closed on Friday, 25 August 2023, for the long-awaited restoration of the SLIMS (SITA Library Information Management System) after the database that libraries throughout the Western Cape used, crashed in November 2022.

This crash caused librarians endless administrative headaches as they were unable to keep any electronic records of stock going missing. Patrons were also unhappy that they were allowed a limited number of books during this time.

But as of Monday, 28 August, everything will be back to normal and we know Overstrand library members are anxious to once again step into a world of books.

Patrons must please return books and all library material before 25 August so that library personnel can re-load them on the system.

Residents are welcome to visit our libraries and borrow any type of library material. We also encourage library members to download the LIBBY app on your cell phone or computer. This app allows members to borrow eBooks and audiobooks at no charge.
