All commercial abalone exemption holders who live in Hawston and who received a Section 28 Notice from the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment are hereby requested to contact the Office of the Executive Mayor of the Overstrand Municipality on an urgent basis for assistance.

According to Ward 8 Councillor Arnie Africa, small-scale / subsistence and commercial fishers in particular have faced serious challenges for many years and for that reason, Mayor Annelie Rabie would like to see how she and her Council may be able to assist and/or support fishers who earn an income mostly from crayfish, abalone and fish quotas.

Should you have received a Notice, please ensure to bring the Notice with you when visiting the Mayor. Her office is situated in Magnolia Street, Hermanus.

For any additional information please contact the Mayor’s office on 028 313 8000/8002 and speak to Whiles Jansen.
