Vacancy: Teacher - Nursery Class
• The candidate will oversee the age group of 10 months - 3 years
• The candidate will teach ages 3-4
• The candidate’s role will be one of support, to facilitate the efficient running of the nursery phase as well as to teach
• Checking that all prep is timeously done and submitted by all relevant staff
Day-to-Day Responsibilities Include:
• Meeting and greeting parents and children daily
• Assisting and guiding in the preparation of all activities
• Teaching
• Toilet/potty training
• Supervision of children both within the classroom, and without
• Supervision and assisting during snack time
• Cleaning of the classroom, packing and tidying toys and equipment both inside and outside
• Preparing children for home time; ensuring that all bags are packed and children are cleaned and ready to be picked up
Requirements:
• Mature individual with previous child-care experience
• Have matric
• Have a recognized qualification in education in the Foundation Phase
• Live between Rooi Els and Kleinmond
• Have own transport
• Bilingual
• Have a Sace certificate
• Have a Police clearance
• Be computer literate
Personal Skills and Attributes:
• Communicates easily
• Understands that the school’s ethos is one of inclusivity and acceptance
• Be open to new and modern innovations, both in childcare and discipline
• Accepting the culture of an eco-school: preservation and care of the environment, developing happy and confident children with an awareness and concern for one another and the world around them
