Top Paints: Roofseal
Highly effective in sealing and preventing leaking roofs and parapet walls when used with the necessary membrane.

SURFACE PREPARATION
All surfaces must be clean, dry, sound, and free from grease, oil, dirt and other surface contaminants.
New Surfaces
New Flatdecks:
Ensure that concrete is dry and free of dust and other surface contaminants. Remove mould and algae with Top Paints’ General Purpose Cleaner, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry. ROOF SEAL and membrane should be applied to all cracks, expansion joints and 90° joints. Apply 1 coat of ROOF SEAL liberally to all areas where the membrane will be placed. Dab the membrane into the ROOF SEAL by using the brush. Apply the membrane in sections of 30 - 40cm at a time ensuring that the ROOF SEAL is still wet. Apply 2 coats over the membrane, allowing sufficient drying time between coats.
Cement Roof Tiles:
Ensure that tiles are dry and free of dust and other surface contaminants. Remove mould and algae with Top Paints’ General Purpose Cleaner, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry. Apply 1 coat of ROOF SEAL liberally to all areas where the membrane will be placed. Dab the membrane into the ROOF SEAL by using the brush. Apply the membrane in sections of 30 - 40cm at a time ensuring that the ROOF SEAL is still wet. Apply 2 coats over the membrane, allowing sufficient drying time between coats.
Cement Plaster Parapets:
With a soft bristle broom brush down the parapets. Apply 1 coat of Top Paints’ Plaster Primer and allow to dry. Apply 1 coat of ROOF SEAL liberally to all areas where the membrane will be placed. Dab the membrane into the ROOF SEAL by using the brush. Apply the membrane in sections of 30 - 40cm at a time ensuring that the ROOF SEAL is still wet. Apply 2 coats over the membrane, allowing sufficient drying time between coats.
New Galvanised Iron:
Clean with Top Paints’ Degreaser to remove the fabricator’s pre-treatment oil, grease and other contaminants. Rinse with clean water until water break-free film is achieved, and allow to dry. Prime with Top Paints’ Water-based Zinc Phosphate Primer the same day and allow to dry. Apply 1 coat of ROOF SEAL liberally to all areas where the membrane will be placed. Dab the membrane into the ROOF SEAL by using the brush. Apply the membrane in sections of 30 - 40cm at a time ensuring that the ROOF SEAL is still wet. Apply 2 coats over the membrane, allowing sufficient drying time between coats.
Weathered Galvanised Iron:
Remove any rust by means of a wire brush, sandpaper or abrasive blasting. Prime with Top Paints’ Water-based Zinc Phosphate Primer the same day and allow to dry. Apply 1 coat of ROOF SEAL liberally to all areas where the membrane will be placed. Dab the membrane into the ROOF SEAL by using the brush. Apply the membrane in sections of 30 - 40cm at a time ensuring that the ROOF SEAL is still wet. Apply 2 coats over the membrane, allowing sufficient drying time between coats.
Previously Painted Surfaces / Redecorating
Old Flatdecks:
Remove the previous system, where adhesion has been lost. Wash the surface in order to remove dust and other surface contaminants. Allow to dry. ROOF SEAL and membrane should be applied to all cracks, expansion joints and 90° joints. Apply 1 coat of ROOF SEAL liberally to all areas where the membrane will be placed. Dab the membrane into the ROOF SEAL by using the brush. Apply the membrane in sections of 30 - 40cm at a time ensuring that the ROOF SEAL is still wet. Apply 2 coats over the membrane, allowing sufficient drying time between coats.
Previously painted with Bitumen Aluminium:
Remove all Bitumen Aluminium and treat it as new work.
Previously painted with Emulsion paint:
Clean the surface and apply directly.
APPLICATION
• Stir thoroughly before use with a flat paddle
• Application: Roller or brush
• Thinning: Not required
• Cleaning: Water
• Coats: 2 or more coats, completely covering the membrane
• Do not paint early in the morning or late afternoon, as the roof may be covered in dew or frost, especially during the winter months
• Do not paint on extremely hot days as small bubbles (Heat Blisters) may form and weaken the film

• Surface Dry: 2 Hours @ 23°C
• Recoating Time: 2 Hours @ 23°C
• Spreading Rate: 2 - 3m²/litre with membrane
• 4 - 5m²/litre without membrane (not recommended)
• Packaging: 1, 5 and 20 litres
• Storage: Away from direct sunlight, heat and severe cold
