Women’s Self-Love: See Yourself First

To see yourself, you must recognise yourself first.

Women's Month is often a celebration of strength.

We honour the women who hold families together, who comfort friends, who support their communities, who carry responsibilities quietly and keep moving forward even when they are exhausted. We applaud the woman who always says, "I'm fine," while silently carrying the weight of everyone else's needs.

But behind that strength is a question few women ever stop to ask:

When was the last time someone truly saw you?

Perhaps an even more important question is this:

When was the last time you truly saw yourself?

Many women slowly disappear, not because someone forced them to, but because life gradually taught them that everyone else's needs came first. Their dreams were postponed "until the children are older." Their desires were labelled selfish. Their emotional needs were quietly placed at the bottom of an ever-growing list of responsibilities.

One day they wake up feeling empty, disconnected, and unseen.

Not because they have stopped loving others, but because they have forgotten how to love themselves.

The tragedy is that the world often praises this sacrifice. We admire the woman who gives endlessly without realising that every time she ignores her own heart, she becomes a little less visible to herself.

You cannot receive love when you no longer believe your own needs deserve attention.

You cannot feel emotionally nourished when every part of your life is devoted to nourishing everyone else.

The journey back to yourself does not begin with changing your family or asking others to notice you.

It begins with recognising that your dreams, your desires, and your emotional needs matter.

Because the moment you acknowledge them, something beautiful begins to happen.

You become visible again.

Not only to others...

But to yourself.

Today's Gentle Practice

• Pause for five quiet minutes today and ask yourself: "What do I need emotionally right now?"

• Write down the first answer without judging it or trying to fix it. Simply acknowledge it.

Sometimes the first act of self-love is not changing your life.

It is allowing yourself to finally be seen.
