21 Days to Christmas - Travel Time

No matter if you fly or drive to your holiday destination, put some thought into the travel time. This applies to the return trip as well.

• What time are you planning to leave the house, especially if you are flying?
• Smaller children: What is something they can do in the car that will be special and will not be available to them any other time?
• Books to read while you are waiting at the airport?
• Music for the road trip?

A little bit of planning goes a long way to harmony.

(In our family, we had a special basket - don’t laugh, this was 30 years ago – that held special tapes that the children could listen to on their Walkman. Those tapes were not available any other time, except when we travelled. And every time we travelled, there was excitement because we would add options to the “basket” during the year. We added new tapes and books to the basket during the year.)

You might want to give each child their unique little backpack with all their special things in for the trip. This way, you create excitement, something to look forward to, and so you buy yourself some harmony. Take them out today on a shopping trip so they get to choose what will be in the backpack.
