Places to eat in Botrivier

Being an agricultural town surrounded by fertile vineyards and orchards, Botrivier restaurants have a healthy appetite for delicious farm-fresh produce and meat. You will notice that anywhere you decide to eat at in the village almost always has stock of the freshest possible fruits, herbs and vegetables.

Similarly, every restaurant and pub has an impeccable wine list from the surrounding estates. Most of the waiters are well-versed in offering pairing advice due to the local obsession with wine producing. This makes a welcome treat when exploring all of the different labels. Places to eat and drink in Botrivier also provide the most incredible settings for a memorable dining experience, most of the restaurants have amazing views of the surrounding mountains and landscapes, which are guaranteed to take your breath away.

In South Africa, most farming towns have a love for pub-style food and Botrivier is no exception. Be sure to visit the local train station to wine and dine at its adjoining restaurant. Boasting a pizza oven, live music and a bar, this is a wonderful treat for the whole family. There is also a coffee shop in the town square, which is painted bright purple and serves the usual caffeine line up and as an added bonus, freshly-baked goods that you can smell just walking by the door.

On Sundays, many of the restaurants in Botrivier serve a roast or even buffet in true farm-style tradition. The food is always freshly prepared, having being bought straight from the surrounding farms. And as anyone who is enthusiastic about good cooking knows, the secret to hearty, delicious meals is using the freshest ingredients possible. The closest to takeaway you’ll find near this village are the artisanal goods and produce that you’ll find at surrounding farm stalls. You will find tasty pies that range from the ordinary chicken and mushroom, to the adventurous bobotie pie. These are also great places for finding truly succulent biltong – with choices from beef and ostrich through to game meat like kudu and springbok.

Food in Botrivier is a culinary delight you’ll not soon forget. The country-style flavours and aromas are truly a treat and you’ll be hard-pressed to find these kinds of hearty meals in the city. And in true agricultural style, these meals won’t break the bank, with much of the ingredients being locally sourced and relatively cheaper than produce that’s travelled. From tender venison to vegetarian spreads, preparing and serving mouth-watering food is something Botrivier is well-versed at and with the farm-style portions, you will never leave an establishment still hungry.
