Embrace Your 'Shadow' Self

Carl Jung spoke about the "shadow" as the unconscious parts of ourselves that we deny. It is the parts that usually result in pain, heartache, regret, and disappointment for us. The part that always trips us up, no matter the good intentions we set out with.

You can continue denying that you are the reason for your lack, or you can own up: accept it is there and then have the freedom and power to choose whether you want to change it or are you choosing to continue with it.

Whatever you choose is right for you. The purpose of the shadow is to bring your limiting and negative beliefs into the light (consciousness) so you may choose how to move forward.

The next time you become aware of a habitual re-action or the recurring negative thought, ask yourself, "What is it about my power that I am denying?"

There is nothing to fear about the shadow. It is your denial of the shadow that will keep you imprisoned. Recognition, consciousness, and your choice are your freedom. What "shadow" of yourself keeps showing up? Will you choose prison or freedom?
