• Friday, August 23: Western Cape Public Speaking Competition (2nd round) in Caledon. HSB Choir performing at Artscape.
• Saturday, August 24: HSB Sewes Rugby Tournament.
• Monday, August 26: Start of Grade 12 September Exams.
• Wednesday, August 28: Wine Auction.
• Thursday, August 29: Suideroord Shipwreck Museum semi-final round.
• Friday, August 30 and Saturday, August 31: Chess Western Cape Top Schools. Netball Western Cape Fast 5 Tournament (home), Sewes Rugby (Paarl).
Staff:
• Welcome to Mrs. Marinda Stoman, who will be teaching Anneri Slabbert’s classes until the end of the year.
• Ms. Carina du Toit will be acting as Deputy Principal until the end of the year.
Governing Body:
• Ms. Anine van Wyk has had to withdraw from the governing body due to health reasons. A parent may be co-opted for three months and then elected. Contact Mr. Jaco Louw (082 903 5239) if you wish to nominate a parent for the portfolio.
Culture:
• RATEM Drama Eisteddfod: Seven BD culture students won 1 bronze, 4 silver, 11 gold, and 6 cum laudes. Congratulations to Leslie-Ann Janse van Rensburg, Malienke van Wyk, Zoë October, Reese Louw, Casey-Leigh Moses, San-Mari Rossouw, and Jadene Laing.
• Helena Kriel: Awarded the medal for the best piano student at the RATEM Eisteddfod with 94% for her piano performance.
Academics:
• Computer Olympiad: 2nd round on August 28. Best of luck to Albertus van Jaarsveld, Gareth Eyles, Leo-Paul Darby, Nitesh Nariandas, Thomas Fourie, Jacques Harmse, and Deon Harmse.
Robotics:
• August 17: Janko Rossouw and Abri Janse Van Vuuren placed 5th at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology Hackathon.
Life Sciences:
• Annual heart and lung dissection practical. Thanks to Bredasdorp Abattoir for the donation.
Social:
• Thank you to everyone who contributed to making Interskole 2024 a success. We appreciate all involved.
Sports Results:
• Rugby, Netball, Hockey, Chess: Results from the interschool matches against HS Montagu.
BHS Cricket Tour:
• Support the Bredasdorp High School cricket team on their tour to develop their talents. Donate to help underprivileged players.
