Psychological Hygiene
The world is experiencing extreme levels of anxiety. We are all bombarded with facts, statistics and hygienic advice. But what about our psychological hygiene? If we neglect this our stress levels will increase which reduces our immunity. This makes us more susceptible to being infected with the virus we fear so much.
I am an Associate Logotherapist which is a therapy that believes there is always meaning in life. In Logotherapy, we believe that although we cannot avoid suffering meaning can be found in every moment of the day, regardless of the situation. In these troubled times, in social distancing and lockdown or in guaranine I beg you to use your creativeness, do stuff… be busy… keep your mind active with work-related activities… do not dwell… do not succumb to the fear!
Activate your experiential senses. See and experience the beauty that life gives us, be it music, art, nature or simply the love in our togetherness as humans in this time. It is free of charge! As far as our attitude towards this virus goes, we must accept the realities and some of those realities are scary. But acceptance reduces fear.
Of course, we all must follow the physical hygienic guidelines and adhere to regulations set by the Government. Unfortunately, we cannot all avoid the virus, but we can all live with responsibility, with faith, with love for the people of the world and hope that this too will pass!
