The Peace Chandelier

 

Annie Pigott has been working closely with 7 local children from Napier to create this wonderful masterpiece. It is handmade out of white clay from France. The doves and hearts of love are made by each child and specially balanced to hang from each candle.

 

The doves and hearts are mosaiced out of beautiful soft jade-green and rose-gold glass tiles onto the fresh white clay. The structure was hand-welded by two teenagers and is painted a soft dove-grey. This work of art took two months to make. The diameter of the frame is 92 cm. The frame supports eight arms ending in an upward curve, holding a candle.

 

As you can see from the photographs, the children have inserted crystals and rose-gold hearts in between the chains of beads, creating a perfect balance. Annie's intention is to sell the chandelier and divide the proceeds between the underprivileged children.
