Fishing in Stanford
Stanford offers excellent fishing spots for anyone wanting to partake in a bit of sport along the Klein River or Lagoon. Mostly renowned for its fly fishing, this sleepy village boasts rainbow trout, brown trout and bass for the enthusiasts. Children can also fish for bluegill and tilapia which keeps them occupied while you camp out and relax next to an easy flowing river.

There are also a number of hidden locations that you can explore if you have a 4x4 or beach buggy. For example, Die Plaat is a beach that is preceded by kilometres of sand. This makes it perfect for sand boarding on the dunes and offers amazing fishing opportunities. It’s quite remote so ensure that you take plenty of water and food for the entire group. You might even get lucky and spot a few dolphins or whales frolicking in the waves depending on the time year (June through to December is optimum).
