Reignite the Passion Inside of You
Too many people come and sit with me who are not following their passion. I have seen this with academic doctors, CEO's, entrepreneurs, and stay-at-home "moms". It shows up in their personal relationships, their health, and their motivation. When their interior world goes into conflict with their exterior world, their world gets turned upside down and inside out.
There is a very good chance that you worked hard and absolutely deserve the position you hold. You might even have been excited and driven at some stage about this position, but one day you wake up and you are no longer fulfilled. The vision is lost and now because of the title, you stand in your position of leader.
Your staff, students, or family will be looking to you to give the direction, to see the bigger picture and to keep focus. They will depend on you to be the motivation every day to continue. They will draw from your energy what they lack to get the job done.
When a leader holds no passion, they loose the spark that is the ignitor of the great to come. The spark that is the light at the end of the tunnel. The spark that melts the team together to move forward as one. When a leader has lost their passion, there is no vision and you are captain of a rudderless ship.
Sometimes we lose our passion, because we change - the only constant in life is change. Our focus shift. Sometimes we temporarily lose our passion because we doubt ourselves. It could also be that the entrepreneur feels that the "business is running away" from their vision for it.
It does not matter the reason. What is vitally important is that as a leader you re-unite with your passion. People are not motivated by the title. People are motivated by the person behind the title. People cannot follow the example of a title - they follow the person. People by nature like to be lead and belong and they will follow the person who can ignite this within them - the leader with a vision and a passion to fulfill that vision.
What will you do today to return to the passionate leader you are destined to be?
