Meet Artist Tess Hawke
Tess Hawke is based in the beautiful city of Cape Town, South Africa. Although she never carried art as a formal subject at school, Tess attended art lessons as an extra-mural throughout her school career, entering a number of local childhood exhibitions.
After school, Tess took a long break from art, to pursue her career as an occupational therapist, but continued to have a deep passion for anything creative! Feeling the need to pursue art again in more recent years, particularly in the area of watercolour, Tess joined Inge Semple's watercolour classes in 2016. For Tess, this has been an amazing journey of creating, learning and exploring watercolour to its fullest, together with other mediums, such as charcoal, ink work and mixed media.
Tess has entered a couple of local exhibitions over the past few years. She received an Honourable Mention in her first watercolour exhibition ever, organised by IWSSA in 2018.
Tess has a particular passion for the tight, more detailed aspect of watercolour. However, she also enjoys experimenting with a looser style from time to time, which is what drew her to watercolour in the first place!
