Pedro the Donkey's 40th Birthday Celebration

We had a wonderful time celebrating Pedro the donkey’s 40th birthday at EARS Donkey Sanctuary! The party was a special treat for 40 local pre-primary children.

The kids got to meet Pedro and his pals, sing "Happy Birthday" to him in three languages, and enjoy delicious chocolate cake, cool drinks, and fun games on the lawns. Pedro looked great in a neck wreath made of fynbos, crafted by our Sanctuary manager, Penny James.

After two hours of fun in the sun, the children left with party packs and a picture of a donkey to colour in.

“We love hosting children at the Sanctuary,” said EARS marketing manager Toni Younghusband. “It gives us a chance to teach them about caring for animals, and they absolutely love the donkeys’ soft fur and long ears!”
