When it comes to beautiful regions in the South Africa, the Overberg is definitely at the top of the list. With sweeping landscapes and endless vistas of seemingly untouched nature, it’s no wonder why so many flock to the region for some much needed R&R. And what better way to truly appreciate the unique natural beauty than with an event dedicated to doing just that.
2016 sees Greyton village hosts the 25th annual Greyton Rose Fair in all its splendour. Aimed at celebrating the most beautiful and popular of flowers, the rose and all that the charming village of Greyton has to offer, this is an event not to be missed by any botany enthusiasts or nature-lover.
The Fair includes beautiful flower displays, the ever-popular Saturday Morning Market and various open gardens throughout the town. All proceeds go to community projects and with this year’s theme of Put A Smile On A Child, the proceeds will go towards aiding local underprivileged children within the community. Previous years have seen the repair of a much-needed scope of a local doctor, building of a playground at the library, musical instruments and equipment purchased for various schools and help with local initiatives like the Greyton Red Cross and Greyton Genadendal Education Fund.
Visit the village of Greyton from 29 to 30 October and take some time to Smell the Roses. Book your accommodation in the green village and make a full, colourful weekend out of it. Be sure to also stop at the various eclectic eateries in town for a culinary experience like only Greyton can serve up.
