Appointment of Overstrand Acting Municipal Manager
Overstrand Acting Municipal Manager assumes role from 11 August 2026:
Mr Edward Jantjies has been appointed by the Overstrand Municipal Council as Acting Municipal Manager for the duration of Dr Dean O'Neill's secondment to George Municipality. He will assume his duties on Tuesday, 11 August 2026.
Mr Jantjies brings more than 31 years of experience in local government, having served in senior management positions across finance, corporate services, human resources, and organisational development. He specialises in municipal governance, performance management, labour relations, and the implementation of the Municipal Staff Regulations.
The Acting Municipal Manager says one of the key highlights of his career was serving as Director: Corporate Services at Mossel Bay Municipality from 2007 to 2022, as well as working as a Lead Consultant for Talent Management.
He holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from North-West University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Management, a Higher Diploma in Education, a Bachelor of Economics, and several other qualifications and professional certifications in local government, finance, human resources, and governance.
Overstrand Executive Mayor, Alderman Archie Klaas, said: “Council is confident that Mr Jantjies's extensive knowledge and experience in local government will ensure continuity, sound governance, and the effective administration of the Municipality during this period. We wish him every success in his new role.”
