Wine & Co, Hermanus - with beer from Belgium...
Something new...
Thank you for your support over the weekends! Don't forget that with our On/Off License we are able to open for tastings and sales - with deliveries only after we close the shop. This means that if you come in over the weekend you can buy wine, but cannot immediately take it home with you - but we will deliver to you in Hermanus (free local delivery, obviously). If you live elsewhere, we can arrange to courier the wine to you the following week.
This Weekend's Tasting.
This weekend we will be tasting the "Seriously Cool Cinsault" from Waterkloof. Made with fruit from old, dry-farmed bush vines which were planted as far back as 1964, it was naturally fermented and made with minimal intervention. This is a beautifully soft and perfumed wine.
Weekend tasting times:
• Friday 10am - 4pm | Saturday: 10am - 4pm | Sunday: 10am - 4pm.
Maredsous Belgian Ale
We have previously stocked the imported La Trappe range of Belgian beers but we thought for this year we would try something new - enter the Maredsous Blond and Maredsous Tripel.
MAREDSOUS BLONDE 6%: This beer is the Abbey's very first beer; apparently, monks still drink it during their lunch. It has a deep yellow colour, very slightly cloudy topped with a white head. Delicious, it has a cheerful fruity flavour, a soft malting, a slightly dry final touch and is delicately hopped. It has all the refreshing qualities of a classical Belgian blonde thanks to its complex flavours and its touch of bitterness.
MAREDSOUS TRIPLE 10%: A Belgian triple with a gold colour. It is full-flavoured and slightly spicy. Its flavour is yeast-derived, bitter and fruity with a balanced post-bitterness. Its sweetness contrasts with its alcohol content. It is a deliciously strong, sweet and heady beer that will delight the initiated. It contains yeast and is refermented in the bottle.

About Us
Have you ever heard about a great wine but could never find a bottle for yourself (to share with friends, of course)? Well, the team at Wine & Company do all the hard work for you! We visit wine farms and attend tastings to find, taste, and then stock wine from the smaller Estates and independent winemakers who buy grapes and produce outstanding wine under their own labels – much the same as the French negociants have been doing for centuries. Given that these winemakers make wine in such small quantities, sometimes just a single barrel, their wine will never be found on the shelves of the major retailers, but only in specialist shops like Wine & Company on High Street, Hermanus.
In addition to the great selection of well-known wines and MCC's, we also stock local craft gin and beer, French Champagne, Belgian Ales as well as whisky and other spirits. Wine & Company (established in 1998 by Bartho Eksteen) has a well-earned reputation for stocking hard-to-find small-batch wines and we strive to continue this great tradition. If you purchase a bottle of wine from us and it is faulty or you are not satisfied with the quality, we will gladly replace the bottle and return the faulty wine to the winemaker.
Feel free to contact Wine & Company if you need a particular wine and we will do our best to source it for you. We are also able to ship wine locally and to most countries so do ask about international shipping.
