Wine and Co - the show must go on...
THE SHOW MUST GO ON!
Our doors are open once again, and so, with wine, we will continue!
The origin of the saying is: "The show must go on, don't let calamity interrupt the proceedings; we mustn't stop what we are doing, even if something unfortunate has happened; it would make us look bad or worry the spectators." The saying and principle are traditional in the theater, but apparently they both originated in the 19th century with circuses. If an animal got loose or a performer was injured, the ringmaster and the band tried to keep things going so that the crowd would not panic. From The Dictionary of Cliches by James Rogers (Ballantine Books, New York, 1985).

We are open 10am - 6pm Monday to Thursday, and 10am - 4pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
GENEVIEVE BRUT ROSE MCC NV...
New in stock: Melissa "Genevieve" Nelsen has been producing her bubblies since 2008, sourcing her fruit from the Van der Stel Pass and Bot River. The recently released non-vintage Brut Rose MCC is made from 15 year old Shiraz vineyards in Bot River, and only 5,500 bottles were made. David Clarke says, "it is super perfumed with fruit, spice and florals. While it is labeled as “Brut”, there is just a touch of subtle sweetness on the palate (7.4g/l). This allows the wine to be the most generous of Melissa’s wines on the palate. It is extremely more-ish, so one glass may not be enough..."
THE POST HOUSE GOLDEN MONKEY 2019...
Friday/Saturday/Sunday Weekend tasting: Stop in this weekend to taste the Post House Golden Monkey, a Rhone-style blend made from Shiraz, Mourvedre And Grenache! We will be tasting 10am to 4pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Brick red with a nose of mulberries, red currant blackberry, cinnamon and with a hint of white pepper and aniseed - an aromatic spicy blend with supple, soft tannins.

About Us
Have you ever heard about a great wine but could never find a bottle for yourself (to share with friends, of course)? Well, the team at Wine & Company do all the hard work for you! We visit wine farms and attend tastings to find, taste, and then stock wine from the smaller Estates and independent winemakers who buy grapes and produce outstanding wine under their own labels – much the same as the French negociants have been doing for centuries. Given that these winemakers make wine in such small quantities, sometimes just a single barrel, their wine will never be found on the shelves of the major retailers, but only in specialist shops like Wine & Company on High Street, Hermanus.
In addition to the great selection of well-known wines and MCC's, we also stock local craft gin and beer, French Champagne, Belgian Ales as well as whisky and other spirits. Wine & Company (established in 1998 by Bartho Eksteen) has a well-earned reputation for stocking hard-to-find small-batch wines and we strive to continue this great tradition. If you purchase a bottle of wine from us and it is faulty we will gladly replace the bottle and return the faulty wine to the winemaker.
Feel free to contact Wine & Company if you need a particular wine and we will do our best to source it for you. We are also able to ship wine locally and to most countries so do ask about international shipping.
