Dance To Enhance Our Children's Lives

The programme showcases the company's leading dancers giving Hermanus audiences the chance to see ballet at its best.

Joburg Ballet's annual visits to Hermanus are in support of local charities and the beneficiary this year is the Just Care Aftercare Centre for underprivileged children. According to Jacquie Rathfelder, the founder of Just Care, the goal of the performance of the Joburg Ballet is to raise funds for the aftercare which will be used for sustainability

Altogether 12 dancers will be taking part in the show. On Wednesday 14 August the dancers will do an outreach programme with various schools and old age homes in the Overstrand area. There will also be a master class at 15:00 at the church where the young children will be dancing.

On Friday evening at 18:30 the gala performing evening will be hosted and dance lovers can look forward to wine and snacks. Guests will have the opportunity to meet and geet the dancers.

On the last day of the event, guests can look forward to a matinee performance at 15:00. The professionally built dance floor is uniquely designed to ensure guests have a personal and intimate feeling with the dancers.

There will be a combination of performances of the works of classic composers as well as contemporary work by South African choreographers. Dancers will be performing an excerpt from "I Think Therefore I Am" choreographed by Shannon Glover, Principal dancer at Joburg Ballet, and many more.
