NEW Security Product: Fog Bandit

DigitFMS has made the decision to add Fog Bandit to our security product offering.

We have had feedback that some customers in a retail environment are nervous to install Chili Pepper systems, due to the potential hazard or legal implications if an innocent bystander is affected by the product.

Fog Bandit is a well-established business, based in Belgium where everything is manufactured in-house in their modern facility. The equipment has been widely used in banks, jewellery stores, server rooms, offices, warehouses and literally anywhere that is vulnerable to looting, theft or losses of high-value equipment.

The product is a harmless fog that is dispersed rapidly from a machine under alarm conditions and fills a room completely in a matter of seconds.

This has a few effects on the suspects:

• Visibility reduced to less than 30cm

• Disorientation which makes them feel vulnerable

• Fear of the unknown as they don’t know the fog is not harmful

• Panic as they realise they probably won’t be able to escape if they hang about

“You can’t steal what you can’t see.”

There are other similar solutions in the market, but none come close to Fog Bandit. Yes, this product costs more than the competitors, but it is so much better that it totally justifies the cost.

There are two basic units which we will call the D-Fog small and the D-Fog large. D-Fog small takes two cartridges which can be refilled.

When ordering as a minimum the unit requires:

• 1x D-Fog Small

• 2x Fog Pack 1

• 1x Front Plate

• 1x EN8 Connect

Installation is easy and requires minimal tools.

So why does this fit in well with what we are already doing?

Customers that have vehicles and use the Digit system have computers, buildings, valuables and items which are vulnerable to attack. Our CCTV and alarms protect them to a degree, but even the fastest response takes a couple of minutes. Computers, TVs and other electronics are taken first and are gone in a matter of seconds. In most cases D-Fog obscures these items in less than 4 seconds, protecting them while allowing security to arrive.

With rising crime, there is a great opportunity to add this product to our security offering. It should also be known that insurers recognise this product as a deterrent and usually offer reduced insurance premiums to users.
