It starts with a 1.9km sea swim at the Hermanus old harbour, followed by 90km cycling via Caledon to the village green in Stanford. The last leg is a 21km run, which is made up of three loops of 7km each of the Stanford Wandelpad.
Participants will cycle through the beautiful Hemel en Aarde Valley with its vineyards and orchards where there will be a waterpoint at Creation Wine. From there the route gets steeper with a stiff climb up Shaws Pass, but fortunately another waterpoint awaits at Caledon. From there, riders will cycle through the golden, hilly terrain of the Overberg Ruens where the wheat harvest is underway.
Shortly after the right turn towards Stanford, the last waterpoint is at Raka Wines. Competitors are expected to arrive here from 9.30 am. Spectators are invited to make themselves at home on our lawn or stoep and watch the cyclists going by and cheer them on. From Raka it is only 17km to the Stanford Village Green. Visitors are welcome to visit Raka Wines for a wine tasting and also to visit the various wineries of the Stanford Wine Route around Stanford. Most of them are close to Stanford, easy to reach and are marked by a green barrel, the logo of the Stanford Wine Route.
We wish all participants a great race and all visitors and local supporters a happy, relaxing Saturday in Stanford!
