New MTB Trails Opening - 16 December 2019
The Beloftebos team is proud to announce that they will be opening new MTB trails from Beloftebos to Stanford Valley. Come and join us for a great breakfast trip from Beloftebos over the mountain on Monday 16 December 2019 at 07:30.
To brief you a bit on the route details for the recce ride:
The start is at 7h30 (sharp) at Stanford Valley Guest House.
Please be there 15 minutes or so before if possible, have some coffee and meet and greet and sign up an indemnity form before we get going.
We will start the gradual climb up to the new single track named “Slipstream”, after Elsabe de Villiers, which runs along a beautiful section of undiscovered territory on the Stanford Valley Farm, and took a decent amount of time to build because of rocky sections and a few bridges. It is awesome and special with a few switchbacks joining up to the old jeep track again. If you are scared of heights - just keep pedalling and focus 10 meters ahead #adrenalinrush. We even got Reinder Nauta impressed by this.
From there we ride up to a new trail linking us up to the Beloftebos Bitterbal bult single track named after Andries and Coia de Villiers. The trail takes you to the top of the neck of the farm Paardenberg. It has the most amazing views of both farms: Stanford Valley, Paardenberg and even Raka Wines. Very scenic, and you need momentum here!
The descent to Paardenberg is a jeep track with some sandy patches.
Don’t forget to take in the amazing fynbos and pristine vegetation and views including to the left Salmonsdam.
We link up to a new single track called Hingse bult which connects again to the existing jeep track down towards Paardenberg.
We take a right turn leading us to a beautiful single track through a small foresty section and cross two bridges before connecting to the existing Paardenberg/Beloftebos trails which are mostly single tracks and will take us back onto a gravel road where we will take a right turn towards Stanford Valley and possibly through a fynbos jeep track on the farm Lucern which then descents down passing the dam at Stanford Valley and back to the start.
A lot said - but only about 24km, but... it does get tricky sometimes - and you need some skill and previous riding experience. I rode part of the trail today, and Attakwas klippies came to mind on the climb to Paardenberg... but not too bad I promise!
Again, no strange stuff - because if you know me... like manicured single tracks mostly, although the territory does not allow it always.
If you are not joining us for breakfast please let us know. Otherwise we assume everyone joining in for breakfast - which is going to divine! R50 per person - full English breakfast and bottomless coffee.
