Break Free from Conformity
"Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth.” - John F. Kennedy
Never conform to what you perceive as the acceptable norm, or you will end up at war with yourself.
We experience turmoil when we attempt to silence the small voice that keeps telling us, "This is not you. This does not make you happy. This is not fair. There must be something better." We work harder, compromise more, and submit to mistreatment. Despite being desperately unhappy, we convince ourselves that this is the path we chose and that we will make the best of the situation.
Every day, I hear people express their frustrations about work, relationships, and life in general. They are searching for something, but fear holds them back. Their minds are constantly busy and noisy as they try to avoid facing things they don't want to confront.
The only way to escape is to no longer buy into "what is expected from you." Yes, we have responsibilities, and we also have dreams and goals. The question is: how sure are you that they are truly yours? Are you confident that your dreams and goals will bring the fulfilment you desire? Will you feel complete, content, and at peace when you achieve your goals, or are you conforming to what you perceive to be your goals and dreams?
Break free today. It may seem scary, but you are braver than you realise. You might discover your true self in the process. For me, that was, and still is, more valuable than anything I thought I might lose in the process.
