Effective Tips for Preventing Motion Sickness with Essential Oils
Motion sickness has the ability to quickly take the joy out of any travelling experience.
But there are a few suggestions that we have tried and tested that can help you get ahead of any nausea and unsettled feeling.
Essential oils are the answer...
• Place a few drops on a tissue or handkerchief and inhale the smell frequently.
• A peppermint roller (Mai Co. Mint & Rosemary Fragrance blend is our choice) rolled at the base of the nose, just above your lip.
• Try the roller on your wrists for easy inhalation, temples and even at the back of your neck, and chin.
• Peppermint lozenges or peppermint sweets...these can be such a life saver
• Apply the roller to the P6 pressure point and gently massage in a clockwise, then anticlockwise direction. (See 2 diagram - mskcc.org)
Other practical tips:
• If travelling - sit near a window, and preferably in the front seat
• Limit sensory input - either close your eyes or keep them fixed on a point. Lying down may also help.
• Stay hydrated
Travelling can be such fun and opens the doors to so many memory-making experiences. So don't let anything hold you back from the opportunity to place those memories in the albums of your life.
