COVID-19 TERS - Claims and Payouts
With regards to the COVID-19 TERS payouts (as administrated by the Unemployment Insurance Fund), I have made it my priority to get your applications in, even though we had to submit some of it three times as they kept on changing the format. What would the life of an HR be without a challenge.
I can give you the GOOD NEWS that some of my clients have received payouts from the fund for which I am very happy for. Unfortunately, the fund still has not disclosed on which basis they will be handling the applications: i.e. alphabetically, number of employees, etc, but I can confirm that payments have been received by some of my clients for which I have done the applications, so please don’t lose hope. There is light at the end of the tunnel and the fund is continuously advancing their site. Today we have received some errors where only part payments have been done and we are working on a solution to solve that as well.
Please let me know once you receive the payment. I will look up your payment report. It is important to make the exact payouts. You will then be instructed to send me the proof of payment to your employees that I will have to send to UIF.
Back to work policy
I am working on a “reintegration” and “back to work after lockdown” policy. I will make this available free of charge. Please just send me a reply email should you want a copy. I will also develop a toolkit with regard to employee wellbeing.

- Now is not the time for business owners to be afraid. Change will be forced on you.
- Make sure you keep on engaging with people, even if this is virtually.
- Build trust with your employees when working virtually. How? Manage outcome instead of activity.
- Don’t let technology take away your authenticity.
