March 2023 Newsletter: The Stanford Shout-Out

February was all about the schools and students. At the start of each school year we assist not only children who may need items of school clothing, but also stationery to our local schools. Lists are obtained from each of the schools and we do what we can to accommodate their needs.

School Shoes

First item on the agenda this year was a need for school shoes, especially for the children in the higher primary school grades.

Thank to some kind and generous sponsors we were able to purchase 21 pairs of shoes for children in need, bringing smiles, confidence and a willingness to attend school.

Thank you to all who answered our plea for shoes.

School Stationery

Stationery items were delivered to 5 schools in and around Stanford.

The Reality of Load-Shedding

Children in less privileged homes do not have the luxury of rechargeable lights by which to do their homework or study for exams, which makes this story even more special to us. Sometimes a simple conversation or question can lead to great things. Such a question was asked and before we knew it we had been gifted 60 solar rechargeable lights for the Grade 7’s at Die Bron Primary.

A huge thank you to that very generous sponsor! The children were absolutely delighted with their lights.

Contact Rotary Club of Stanford for any further information on our projects.
