We have certainly hit the ground running and what better way to kick off 2023 than by supporting a young music group from Die Kop? These youngsters were invited to perform as guest act at the Cape Town Jazzathon and Stanford Rotary is very proud to have provided them with new jeans and sparkling white T-shirts. An experience like this can be life-changing for a young adult and will definitely never be forgotten.

EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT / FAMILY IN FOCUS PROGRAM

The Family in Focus team is made up of 6 ECD Practitioners, a Team Leader and an Area Manager, all of whom are Stanfordians. At the start of each year Stanford Rotary provides the
team members with a backpack and basic materials they need to carry out their Home-Based Early Childhood Development program, at the same time teaching the parents of the children how to teach their children using everyday household items

How you can help them...

Because the children in the FiF program come from homes where this is little or no income, all sorts of “throw-away” materials are used in order to show the parents they don’t need to spend much money in order to prepare their children for school. Cereal (or similar) boxes, light cardboard (A4 size or slightly bigger), bottle tops (all sizes and colours), magazines for cut and paste, office paper which has an unused side, used wax crayons, small bits of fabric or yarn; these are a few examples of what is used to make and create teaching materials. GUESTS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME...

Our last meeting in January was filled with laughter, swopping of stories, project information and general good fellowship when we were joined by no fewer than 6 guests! Included were 2 Rotarians from UK Clubs, 1 Rotarian from a Club based in Norway, another Rotarian from a Club in Rosebank, Jhb and 2 new Stanford residents who are keen to get involved in Stanford Rotary. Guests often bring new and refreshing perspectives.
