Here is a solution to put those fridge magnets to good use.

Magnetic Blackboard

A solvent-based matt black paint that attracts magnets and is suitable to use as a school board paint.

Main Attributes

• Suitable for use on wood, metal, hardboard and plaster

• Excellent adhesion

• Chalk easily cleaned

• Dries to a relatively smooth finish

• Lead-free

• Overcoat with Top Paints’ Super Sheen or Low Sheen

• Transforms walls to a magnet attracting surface

Surface Preparation

New Surfaces

Cement-, Gypsum Plaster, Concrete, Fibre-Cement, Hardboard: Prime with Top Paints’ Plaster Primer.

Wood: Sand to a smooth finish, seal knots and prime with Top Paints’ Pink Wood Primer.

Galvanized Steel: Clean with Top Paints' Degreaser and rinse thoroughly until a water-break-free film is achieved. Sand or use scouring pads to remove all rust. Use Top Paints’ Water-based Zinc Phosphate Primer to prime the entire surface.

Mild Steel: Clean with Top Paints’ Degreaser and rinse thoroughly until a water-break-free film is achieved. Prime with either Top Paints’ Industrial QD Red Oxide Primer or Etch Primer.

Previously Painted Surfaces

Old paint in sound condition: Remove any flaking and loose paint, clean and prime with the appropriate primer (as per the information given above). Top Paints’ Bonding Liquid can be used on very powdery surfaces. Sand the surface down and remove dust before applying a coat of Top Paints’ Fillercoat. Fillercoat must be left to dry for at least 4 hours.

Old paint in poor condition: Completely strip the surface and treat it as new work.

Application

• Stir thoroughly with a flat paddle and periodically during use

• Application: Roller or brush

• Thinning: Not required

• Cleaning: Top Paints’ White Spirits Turpentine

• Coats: Chalk Board - 2-3 coats (ensure that surface is 100% dry before starting to write on it with chalk)

Magnet attracting surface: 3-4 coats or more, test the strength after each coat to get the desired effect.

• Application Temp: 10 - 32 °C

• Humidity: Below 85%
