The Stanford 100 Miler: Stay at Stanford Hills
Have you heard about the Stanford 100 Miler race?
The Stanford 100 Miler is a 1-day race in the heart of the Overstrand.
Date: 10 December 2022
The Route
The start and finish will be at Stanford Hills Estate.
This course favours the rouleur who is sharp enough to leave a bit in the tank for a few of the clever twists and turns towards the business end of the course.
After a short neutral section out of town, hunters will immediately head South on some pristine gravel. Clay hardpack is the name of the game while you zig-zag along the Uilkraals River towards Baarskeerdersbos and then along to Wolvengat.
A sharp left will see the band of riders jockey for position in the direction of Bredasdorp which includes a 15km tar section. Another hard left and its noses into the wind en route to Elim. Will you stop for some tea and cake? If you’re tired here, you’ve overcooked it. Better to hop in the carriage than limp home.
You’ll head in a Northerly direction and this is where the fun really begins. Rural, tarmac-like gravel roads with two ‘bumps’ ready to the pack of the laggards. Over-cook the wet clay downhill sections here and it's not only new bike day but also new clavicle day. More slippery than a greased weasel.
Get your steed over the last bump and all that's left is to channel your inner puncheur to the line. The hounds will meet you at the village pub to revel in your success.
