Extended Payment Term Agreement Explained
In March 2020 the Overstrand Municipal Council gave approval for business owners and residential ratepayers, who found themselves in financial stress as a result of the lockdown, to enter into an extended payment term agreement with the Municipality for their March and April municipal accounts.
This special consideration has been extended by Council to include the May and June accounts as well to apply for repayment in fixed monthly installments, over and above the strict payment of future monthly consumer accounts payable.
Businesses who are unable to pay their accounts for the above mentioned period can conclude arrangements for a particular month(s) to do so in installments over a period of 6 months.
Residential customers who cannot pay their accounts for the period March, April, May and June can also do so over a 12 month period without the payment of a deposit.
This is in line with the Overstrand Customer Care, Credit Control and Debt Collection Policy in terms of payments of accounts.
Kindly note that this arrangement does not include the waiver of interest of accounts in arrear.
In effect, this means that the current account PLUS the deferred payments PLUS interest will be charged monthly to the account for payable on or before the 20th of the month.
