Level 3 Lockdown: Financial Assistance for Registered Accommodation Establishments
Overstrand Municipality is offering hotels, guest houses, Bed & Breakfasts and self-catering properties some relief for the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on tourism during the national lockdown.
The Residential rates tariff will be applied instead of the Business rates tariff. Clients don't have to apply for this rebate.
Overstrand Municipal Council resolved at a virtual council meeting on 27 May 2020 that a temporary auto classification status adjustment for holiday accommodation establishments to residential, be approved, in order to charge the residential rates tariff for the period of three months, retrospectively from April to June 2020.
In instances where a rebate for the difference between Business rate and Residential rate were already allowed in accordance with the lettable number of rooms, the calculated difference in rate will be adjusted for these amounts already granted.
Any credits due will be levied as a “one-liner” and will appear on the June 2020 statements as “JOURNALS”.
