Hermanus licensing and registration office now open every second Saturday
Overstrand Traffic Department in Hermanus will once again open its doors from 1 October on every second Saturday from 08:30 until 12:00, to accommodate clients with the following services:
• Car license renewal
• Vehicle registration
• Roadworthy testing
• Learners’ and drivers’ license bookings
• Public driving permits
• Payment of traffic fines
The traffic offices in Hermanus will be open Mondays - Fridays from 08:00 - 15:15 and every second Saturday from 08:30 until 12:00.
The traffic offices in Kleinmond and Gansbaai will be open Mondays - Fridays from 08:00 - 15:30 with a lunch break between 13:00 - 13:45.
Motor Vehicle License Renewals:
To avoid large volumes of people gathering in one place, Overstrand Traffic Services requests residents to make use of electronic funds transfer (EFT) to make payment whenever possible. This is only applicable for motor vehicle license discs.
Please ascertain the correct amount due by phoning 028 313 8175/8031/8166 (Hermanus Traffic), 028 384 8339 (Gansbaai Traffic) or 028 271 8400 (Kleinmond Traffic) before making an EFT payment.
Bring these along for the renewal of a motor vehicle license:
• In person with identity document, passport, traffic register (original or copy).
• Proof of address for FICA purposes. A utility bill will be suitable for this purpose, viz. a municipal, telephone or retail store account which is not older than three months.
• The necessary finances.
When somebody else renews on behalf of the vehicle owner:
• Authorisation letter stating the registration number and the authorization of the person doing the transaction (the person's full names). A certified copy of your ID and their own ID; The licence disc or the vehicle's registration papers; The appropriate fees.
In the case of a married couple, a spouse doing the transaction can bring their marriage certificate and this will be sufficient proof as permission
