TWO NEW ALDERMANS FOR OVERSTRAND MUNICIPALITY
Two Overstrand Councillors, Councillors Kari Brice and Riana de Coning, were awarded the honorary title of Alderman by the Overstrand Municipality at the last Council meeting of this year held on 25 November 2020.
The honorary title of Alderman is awarded to a Councillor for meritorious service over a period of time. A councillor receives credits towards this honorary for the number of years that they have served as a Councillor and additional credits can be obtained for serving as the Chairperson of a Ward Committee, the Mayoral Committee or time served as a Speaker, Deputy Executive Mayor or Executive Mayor of the Municipality.
This is the first time since 2016 that the Overstrand has conferred the honorary title of Alderman on qualifying Councillors.
