OVERSTRAND ACHIEVES 8TH CONSECUTIVE CLEAN AUDIT
Overstrand Executive Mayor, Ald Dudley Coetzee, congratulated the administration for having received an eighth consecutive clean audit for the financial year 2019/2020.
Over the past eight years, the Overstrand Municipality has achieved unqualified audit outcomes without any findings (i.e a clean audit) on the Municipality's financial statements.
The Auditor-General’s report expressed satisfaction with the manner in which the Municipality had conducted its affairs and adhering to best practice in its corporate and financial governance.
It also means that there are no material findings on the predetermined objectives and no problems identified with non-compliance to key legislation indicating effective management systems and proper internal controls that are in place.
The Mayor thanked the previous municipal manager, Coenie Groenewald, who retired last year, the current municipal manager, Dean O’Neill, the director of finance, Santie Reyneke-Naudé, and the rest of the management team and staff members of the Municipality for their commitment that led to the clean audit.
The municipal manager, Dean O’Neill, echoes the Mayor’s sentiments and added that, in general, it is becoming increasingly challenging to maintain good audit outcomes and reiterated the importance of the collective effort of the entire Overstrand team in ensuring the continuation thereof in future.
