Lockdown Level 3 - Overstrand Public Libraries Are Still Closed: But It Is Time To Return Books

Local libraries, for issuing of books and other library materials, will remain closed under lockdown level 3 to restrict COVID-19 transmission through social distancing and limiting physical contact with materials.

All books and other library materials need to be returned to libraries by 23 June 2020. All late books returned within above mentioned grace period will be exempt from any fines incurred during lockdown.

Libraries will be open from 08:30 - 15:30, Mondays - Fridays from Thursday, 4 June 2020.

Unfortunately, members will not be allowed to borrow any ‘new’ books and/or other library material until further notice.

We appeal to residents to return their books and report lost books.

Books and other materials must be placed in a carrier bag with your name and library card number clearly displayed.

The reason for this is that books will be ‘quarantined’ for 72 hours before it is handled by library staff.

Adherence to access control and limited numbers inside libraries will be strictly enforced. Safety measures and protocols governing the observation of social distancing, sanitation and wearing of masks will be observed.
