Voter registration will take place on 18 and 19 September 2021

The Independent Electoral Commission says it’s an opportunity for new voters to register and for existing voters to update their details.

The final date for elections is still under consideration by Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma. The municipal election is planned to take place between 27 October and 1 November 2021.

Remember, you must be registered to vote where you live - even already registered voters can use the voter portal to check and update their voters' roll addresses.

Contact your local IEC office from Monday - Friday during office hours or your ward councillor for assistance regarding special votes.

To register online, go to elections.org.za

How to check if you are registered and that your voters’ roll address is up to date:

• Registration will take no more than 24 hours to process.

• Check at your local IEC office from Monday to Friday during office hours. SMS your ID number to 32810 (R1 per SMS).

• Go to the IEC website www.elections.org.za and follow the link “Am I registered to vote?”

• Even if you are registered, remember to check that your voters’ roll address is up to date.
