Western Cape Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety, Reagen Allen, made an oversight safety visit on Monday, 5 September 2022 to police stations in the Overstrand to familiarise himself with matters relating to his portfolio. He was appointed to this position just over 130 days ago.

There to welcome him to our area, was Deputy Mayor and Mayco Member of Protection Services, Lindile Ntsabo, who said he is pleased that the Minister wants to assure himself of the realities that our police stations are facing and to find out first hand what kind of support the police stations need.

Hermanus Station Commander, Colonel Nosilela showed the Minister around the station and briefly discussed safety and security highlights as well as challenges faced by his station. He also showed the Minister the trauma room at the station where people can come for protection and assistance at any hour of the day.

“We are taking pride in the good relationship the Municipality has with the police, various neighbourhood watches and security firms as well as other law enforcement and social agencies, making sure that the Overstrand is a safe place for children to grow up and residents to stay", the Deputy Mayor said.
