Stanford Pet Feeding Project: Please Help

The Stanford Pet Feeding Project - under the Stanford Animal Welfare Society (SAWS) - is distributing pet food to pet owners who have little or no income during the lockdown. The caring attitude and donations by so many Stanford residents so far has heartened SAWS.

Three pet food deliveries have already taken place and a fourth one is being planned before the end of April.

The feeding project commenced just after the national lockdown had been announced.

Thanks to the generosity of private donors right from the start, pet food donations poured in. Food was collected and delivered to Die Kop and to the designated areas in Stanford South. Dog food was packaged in 2kg bags and cat food in 1kg bags each. 

The impact of the lockdown on the poor in the community will continue post lockdown. This means that more pet food will need to be distributed.  

We are therefore humbly requesting ongoing donations for the pets in need.

The system in place for donations of pet food is as follows:

• Pet food (dry not canned) can be purchased and left at the allocated spaces at the entrances of Overberg Agri Stanford and Stanford OK Mini Market.
• Monetary donations can be paid into the Stanford Animal Welfare Society banking account with reference Stanford Pet Feeding Scheme.
