Unfortunately for me, I don't often get a chance to sit in the classroom and observe. Volunteers like me are at home making their contribution but we see the newsletters and photos that speak louder than words.
Some children are actors, excelling at role play and drama, some are wonderful artists. There are those who have a flair for numbers or for modelling or puzzles. A few are remarkably neat with clear handwriting already, others have vivid imaginations. There are one or two little souls who had a rough time making it into the world and their brains suffered in the process but they have their gifts too, they are the most forgiving and kindest little souls in the school.
Wonderful things happen every day at Pikkewyntjies, however - whoever the child and whatever his or her talents - every child goes home having had a good day and feeling good about themselves. That's the Pikkewyntjies brand: "You're up for it, Go for it"
They are such a tribute to Juffrou Zaan and her staff - these happy, confident children.
