A Roman poet coined the phrase - mens sana in corpore sano - a sound mind in a sound body

It’s still something everyone wants for one’s children and Sandra, the Chairman of our board who is a fitness queen, comes to school to help the Pikkewyntjies and the Pikke achieve it. She supervises warm-ups, stretches and work for those muscles before the school day begins and to make sure everyone knows exactly what to do, she demonstrates. Between Sandra’s PT sessions in the mornings and a busy playtime, the children get the healthy exercise their growing bodies need. It’s another of the wonderful things she does for our boys and girls. No school ever had such a Chairman of the Board.

The Calendar and Weather Board

Another enjoyable daily activity is checking on this board each morning. The children take it in turn to change the date and update the weather. At month end, the month is changed and there is great interest when the season changes, although not so much perhaps when winter comes.

Everyone looks forward to the shortest day so we can start looking forward to putting up the board for SPRING sometime not so far away.
