Let me put your minds at rest - these lions didn’t eat the children or even take a bite out of the Juffrouens which is not like lions, as you know.

Also they had smiles on their faces and they sat on the tables in the classroom and didn’t jump on things and lash their tails, in fact they didn’t have tails which was another very odd thing about these lions.

They did have very, very handsome manes though, made with orange paint and forks and great care by careful hands keen to make their lion the kingliest of all the kings of the beasts. When the work was done, they were so striking, all wearing their beautiful new manes that Tannie Louise and Juffrou Genevieve and the pikke came in to admire them at lunchtime.

They all agreed that not even in books had they ever seen lions sporting such manes as those made by their own Grade Rs.
