Caution when driving on Overstrand roads
Traffic is beginning to increase, and we are thankful that family, friends and visitors can once more spend time in the Overstrand during the December holidays.
However, we are concerned about the number of animals that die every day after being struck while crossing the roads by cars, bakkies and taxis because drivers are in too much of a hurry and do not slow down.
We urge motorists to consider all wildlife and domestic pets when driving through our towns. Please keep a look-out for them and watch your speed. It is most unpleasant and painful to see a slow-moving tortoise run over and crushed because the driver did not see it.
Onrus residents are very concerned about ‘their’ geese in the road at the Kidbrooke traffic lights. Although they are not run over that often, people still need to drive slowly and with caution around this area.
Please also warn the non-locals to keep a look out for them as they might not be aware of geese crossing the road unexpectedly.
