Arting About on a Sunny Friday: Hermanus FynArts Unleashes Creative Magic!
Last Friday, the sunlit streets of Hermanus were transformed into a canvas of creativity as the talented artists of Hermanus FynArts showcased their skills and imagination. It was a day filled with inspiration, diversity, and the sheer joy of artistic expression.
Featured Artists and Their Inspirations:
• Bianca Lombardi: Drawing inspiration from the ocean, the talented artist is faced with a delightful dilemma - ray or whale? The sea's wonders come alive on her canvas.
• Brilliant Mushonga: Hailing from Zwelihle, Mushonga brings grace to life as he paints a beautiful ballerina, capturing the elegance of dance in vibrant colours.
• Alex McCall: Infusing a nautical theme into the "evil eye," Alex's artwork pops with coastal charm, adding a touch of the sea to his mesmerizing creation.
• Cecile Walters: Normally a calligrapher and designer, Cecile decided to use different fonts to write Hermanus creatively, turning the town into an open-air art gallery.
• The Slabbert Family: A family affair as designer mom Sandra and daughters Mia and Kara paint bollards. Kara and Mia collaborate on a surreal image, while Sandra depicts an abstract mountain range, mirroring the breathtaking scenery that surrounds Hermanus.
• Carriages Centre Restoration: Over at the Carriages Centre, artist Jeandré Marinier collaborates with Jozua Rossouw of Rossouw Modern Art Galleries and Lorette du Toit, wife of the late artist Paul du Toit. Together, they meticulously restore three newly installed sculptures with the same colours originally used, preserving the essence of art history.
Art Unleashed, Stories Told:
Thank you to these incredible artists who have filled our town with colours, stories, and a vibrant spirit.
