On Tuesday morning (5 June) we had our first official whale trip of the season and as we launched from Gansbaai harbour the weather was perfect, no wind, no swell, the formidable Atlantic was calm as can be. We were not disappointed with 3 beautiful Southern Right whales, playing in the shallows and showing us some tail.
Those were not the only whales out to play and we had a truly remarkable encounter with an extremely curious Bryde's whale, with the youngster circling the boat multiple times. Walker Bay was again full of life, with Cape Fur Seals and African Penguins everywhere you look and an abundance of jellyfish and birds, including another rare sighting of a Giant Petrel. Not only a beautiful whale watching trip but also a 4 out of 5 for our Big 5 Sea Safaris! Perfect sightings, perfect weather!!
