Derek and his merry gang of Irish overlanders arrived for a stayover at Saxon Lodge. Their trip started in Botswana, on BMW Adventure bikes and headed South to Namibia and down the West Coast of South Africa. There was great excitement telling their stories of elephants and antelope along the highways and beautiful roads and people along the way. We, as South Africans sometimes lose sight of just how beautiful our country is and how hospitable and friendly we are as people and we feel blessed to be reminded by our guests.
A few of the travellers were already thinking about when they could return to visit and where they would go and what they would do. These are all such good signs of how this country is a top notch holiday desination. It is particularly fantastic for off road adventure biking with so many mountain passes and gravel roads to play on.
Dave has an adventure bike and has explored and mapped fantastic routes for this kind of travel, with the aim of leading groups of bikers through some of the most beautiful countryside in South Africa.
Saxon Lodge offers a great spot at the ocean to unwind in after a long day in the saddle, with an on-site bar, restaurant, garden and decks to hang out in and relax. Caron's kitchen can conjure up all manner of enticing meals and the well stocked bar provides perfect accompaniments to the fare.
We look forward to Dereks next group of travellers to make his 3rd trip to Gansbaai.
