Recipe: OK Foods Spaghetti Bolognaise
You don’t need a lot of ingredients to make a delicious Spaghetti Bolognaise! And remember, the secret to the very best Bolognaise sauce is to cook it very slowly, allowing the flavours to develop.
Ingredients:
- 1 tbs cooking oil
- 6 rashers bacon, chopped
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 3 carrots, peeled and finely chopped
- 2 celery sticks, finely chopped
- 4 tsp mixed herbs
- 3 garlic cloves, crushed and finely chopped
- 500 g beef mince
- 2 dried bay leaves
- 1/2 tin OK tomato purée
- 2 tins OK tomato and onion mix
- 250 ml beef stock
- 150 ml red wine
- To taste salt and black pepper
- To taste parmesan cheese, grated
- 500 gr OK spaghetti
Method:
1. Heat the oil in a heavy-based saucepan.
2. Once hot, add the bacon and fry slowly until nice and crispy.
3. Reduce the heat; add the onion, carrot, celery, garlic and spices.
4. Sauté until the onion is soft and fragrant.
5. Increase the heat and add the mince and stir-fry until brown.
6. Add the rest of the ingredients, except for the parmesan.
7. Reduce the heat and simmer the meaty sauce gently for an hour, stirring occasionally.
8. Cook until the sauce is nice and thick, then reduce to low heat, whilst waiting for the spaghetti.
Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions, drain and serve with your bolognaise sauce. Top the sauce on your plate with a generous handful of grated parmesan and some crusty bread to mop up the left over juices. Yum!
